St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Congregation Council Meeting

Attendance: Cheryl Croulet,  Bob Deik,  Janie Hopkins, Caryl Morris, Chris Rigby, Ron Patkus, Abby Triebel, Martha Beard, Deacon Ferolito,
                     Lesley Stone-Hurlburt, Art Upright, Pastor Ward. 

Devotions: Art Upright 

Minutes for the January 2008 – A motion to approve the minutes was carried. 

Stewardship Program: Art Upright  Art would like to work on developing an every member visit. This would require visitors from the Stewardship committee to go into the homes of those members who are not able to make it to the meetings and give them a person touch as to what is going on in the congregation. It has been more than seven years since this has happened in St. John’s community. The plans for this will start after Easter. 

2008 Council Member’s Terms: Chris Rigby Three council members will be ending their term this year Ron Patkus, Cheryl Croulet & Chris Rigby. A person from council is needed for the nominating committee, Cheryl Croulet volunteered for the position. 

Mission Team Representation The Council Structure for 2008 was discussed and vacant positions were filled by new council members. Caryl Morris will take Bill Triebel’s place as Treasurer, Marty Beard will take Rob Cohen’s spot in worship, Lesley will fill Nancy Proto’s Fellowship vacancy and Erich will fill Randy Johnson’s place in Ministry. 

Five Year Plan Process: Art Upright would like to put a long range plan into place.

How do we want to proceed?

• Include mission team chairs in the process
• Each develop no more than four ideas
• Council members develop ideas
• Come together as a group with lists and brainstorm
• Take ideas and go home and think about them
• Rank priorities
• Create a working outline
• Be ready by the end of April to draw up a plan

 March 2008 Meeting will be March 25

 Treasurer’s Report: Caryl Morris Income was higher than expected, expenses were over budget.
