Fifteen years ago, the St. John’s Golf Ministry began and has been played at the Vassar College Golf Course every year.  Three players were there for the first round, growing to twelve in a month.  This past year we had 50 different people playing at one time or another. We average about 20 or 24 a week.   Our objective of having this ministry not only for St. John’s members, but for the community at large, for men and women, for all ages, and all skill levels has been met.  Indeed half of the players were not members of St. John’s.

We invite all to join with us for fellowship, a good time and getting to know, many people.  The beauty of this group is that you don’t have to be there every week and the contests we have are for all skill levels.  These include zero puts, closest to the pin, low net, low gross (both in regular golf and also the three club contest),  We go out in groups of three or four and mix the groups up each week so you do get to know a wide variety of people.

We each pay our green fee and for the luncheon we have at the end of the season which runs from April until Thanksgiving.  This year the luncheon was held at Red Lobster with Burt Berge presiding and Ginnie Berge giving us some history of these fifteen years.

We will be starting up again in April and hope to see you there.  It really is a great time for all.
