Sunday, May 4th at 3:00 PM, the Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will present a Members Recital dedicated to the Honor and Memory of three exceptional colleagues: Robert Brittenham, Mary Caskey and Clara Miller. Director of Music Susan Guse, former Organist/Choir Director John Sullivan and St. John's member, and organist at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Maris Kristapsons will all perform on the program at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church located at 325 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie.
Youth Fundraiser on May 10th: The High School Youth Group will be hosting the first picnic of summer on Saturday May 10th. There will be dinner, music, games, and a dessert auction. We will take a free will offering. Please bring lawn chairs and if possible a dessert for the auction. All funds will go to the New Orleans trip planned for the summer of 2009. Please sign up by filling out a flyer from the kiosk and putting it in the office, or by letting Abby know that you plan on attending by May 7th.
Next Sunday, May 11th is Youth Sunday. The Confirmation Students will be participating in the 9:30 Service.
Mackey Music Scholarship Award applications are being accepted. This award provides a token scholarship to students, 10 years and older, who are undertaking private studies in the musical arts. They must also be participating in music related activities at St. John’s. See bulletin board notices, church office folder or kiosks for further details. Applications must be submitted by May 25th.
June 1st – The Annual June Congregation Meeting will take place following the 9:30 Service in the Nave. Childcare will be provided during the meeting. Please sign up your child in the folder in the Church Office or give Abby a call at 452-1550.

Communion Glass Washers Needed – We are in extreme need of Communion Glass Washers for the 9:30 and 11:00 Sunday Services. We are a friendly bunch, will always be there to help you and it takes about ten minutes of your time. It’s easy! We would truly appreciate your help. If you would like to help us, please contact Jackie Boccio at 462-6186. Thank you.
Summer Nursery Care volunteers are needed to cover the Nursery during the summer months at the 9:30AM Service. We will need coverage for the Nursery from June 15th through August 31st a total of 12 Sundays. Sign up on the Nursery door for a Sunday. Thanks for your help!
Newcomers ChristCare Sessions will continue on Thursdays through May 29 from 7-8:30PM in the Blue Room. The theme of the class is “Understanding of the Lutheran Faith and Life in Christ in community.” Pastor Ward and a ChristCare Group Leader Bob Knapp will be leading the class.
