On behalf of the Glocal Mission Team, many thanks to all who made donations toward planting a tree at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church in Arizona. We are still accepting donations today, in the basket in the narthex, and I will report the total next Sunday. The Little Lutheran magazine for ages 2-6 years special subscription offering. The regular price is $24.95; special price is $12.95 if at least six people sign up. Love INC - Personal care items are needed: soap, shampoo, razors, shaving cream, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, dish soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, combs, brushes, and tissues.
Linens - new or gently used are also needed: quilts, blankets, sheets and towels.
Personal Care items can’t be purchased with food stamps by the clients helped by Love INC, so they are greatly needed and appreciated. These items can be placed in the appropriate boxes under the table in the Narthex.
January 12 – February 16 – New Member Discipleship Classes to meet with Pastor from 7-8:30PM in the Blue Room. These sessions are intended for persons interested in learning about the understandings of our faith and life together in Christ in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, who want to become active members of St. John’s. February 5 - Boy Scout Sunday: All Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are encouraged to wear their uniform to church on Sunday, February 5th.
Giants vs. Patriots???? Who will win? Nobody knows. But you can make sure that the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley wins by bringing in your Souper Bowl donation and voting for your favorite Super bowl team. The High School Youth Group will be collecting after all three services on February 5th! Please help us to make sure the Food Bank wins!
February 5 – Journal Deadline for March Journal. When submitting, please forward in Microsoft Word format. If you do not have Word, a pdf file will work. Please send submissions to both Steve Koch (stevenpkoch@aol.com) and Carol Versace have (carolav_nd@yahoo.com). Please include your name and phone number in case of questions.
Also, please note if you do not have a computer and want to add something in the journal, place your item in the “COMMUNICATIONS” folder in the church office. Mark it “for journal” and be sure to include your name and contact number.
February 11 – Mid-Hudson Love INC 4th Annual Cookie Walk from 10AM – 2PM at Poughkeepsie united Methodist Church. Bill Brunsvold placed a sign-up sheet on the counter in the church office for those who are willing to bake for this event. They are looking for bakers to make 5-6 dozen cookies and deliver them to Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church 2381 New Hackensack Road on Friday, February 10th. Thrivent will provide matching funds (1 dollar for each $3 raised).
SOCIAL MINISTRY - on Tuesday, February 14th at 7:30 Leila Judd, board member at Vassar Warner Home Adult Care Facility will tell us what is going on there at the beginning of our meeting. The congregation is welcome to join us in the Blue Room.
Family Ski Trip: We will be heading for the Hills on February 18th. Time and Mountain TBD, but please sign up ASAP with Abby Triebel. In order to find the best deal, I need a number to work with. Middle and High School students can attend without their parents with Abby’s approval.
Mystery Dinner Theater Tickets on Sale
There are Ticket Order Forms in a folder on the wall in the church office. Fill out a form and attach a check. The tickets will be sent to you in the mail.
You can also see me on any Sunday and purchase tickets directly from me.
The event is scheduled for February 25, 2012. Reception starts at 6:30 pm.
It includes: Wine and cheese reception, Great entertainment, Fantastic gourmet food prepared by professional chefs, Prizes and Music
Only $35 each for a very enjoyable night out. All profits will go to providing a water well for the people in Palmarito, DR.
Twenty dollars of each ticket will be credited to your account as a donation.

DR Water Project
We are still accepting donations for this very worthy cause. Use the blue envelopes in the pews or mark your checks “DR Water Project”. You can place them in the offering plate or give them to an usher. The people in Palmarito will greatly appreciate your help. Please take a look at the bulletin board by the drinking fountain near the rest rooms. It shows the good progress we are making toward our goal but your help is needed. We want to have the well drilled in March and install the equipment when we are there in April. Yes, this is very aggressive but with God’s help we can make this happen.
Deadline February 26, 2012 – Girl Scout Gold Award Project. Molly Feldweg is planning a volunteer Recognition Brunch in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, March 11, 2012. Please pick up a form in the kiosks or on the wall in the church office and nominate volunteers and let Molly know what they do in the church.
