Set your alarm early  and get to St. John’s 10 minutes early! On that Sunday, Patrick will perform two movements from Joseph Rheinberger’s Organ Sonata No. 12 in D-Flat Major, Op. 154 as part of the 10:30 Worship Service. The prelude will be Pastorale, the beautifully melodic and flowing second movement of the Sonata and the Postlude will be Phantasie, the work’s powerful opening movement. Rheinberger’s music exhibits a mixture of symphonic large-scale structures, Wagnerian chromatic harmonies, and idiomatic organ writing that is a thrill to experience as a player or listener. Patrick has been working hard to prepare these substantial pieces and we hope you will plan to arrive early and stick around after the service to enjoy both!
