On Harvest Sunday, the congregation and the JAM kids collected food items in a wagon and brought them up to the front of the church for a blessing from Rev. Koenig. These items will be given to the St. John’s Food Pantry.

The children then went to their classrooms to participate in a Harvest Sunday Hunger Service Project (Supported by Thrivent Action Team funds.) The children packed lunch bags of non-perishable foods that can be kept in their car. When driving around town, if they see a person asking for food on the street, the bag can be given to the person in need. Each child was able to take home 4 bags to be given out.
Hopefully this project not only helps people in need, but helps kids and their families think of ways to to creatively address the issue of hunger in our community.
